This year (2012), ASTD has recognized our chapter as having achieved Chapter Excellence in three different categories! As far as I can tell, this is the first time a single chapter has received recognition in all three categories for which the Chapter Excellence Award is given!

(Steve Maul, President & Sarah Gilbert, VP of Communications)

The three areas in which we've been recognized are:

  1. Community Involvement - Our outreach programs with Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, the Atlanta Community Food Bank and others was recognized for the way in which we practice our profession in working with these community groups - helping them learn internally or developing and delivering learning programs for their constituencies. Congratulations to Cecil Fricano, Jennifer Williams and all who participated in our Community Involvement programs.

  2. CPLP Preparedness - Greater Atlanta developed, managed and delivered a multi-chapter virtual CPLP Study Group last year which has been recognized as both enormously successful, but also creative and effective in its approach. My thanks go our to Anne Power and her dedicated team who made this vision a reality.

  3. Joint Member Growth - While ASTD (at the national level) loves it when we grow our local membership; they love it even more when we grow joint members - those of us who belong to both the chapter and the national Association. Last year, we added 64 joint members to our roster, the largest number of any chapter in the US. Much of this was done through registration at our ACE conference last year and other programs. A huge "thank you" goes out to both Tonette White and Kim Ziprik who respectively managed membership and programs last year. Without all the initiatives you and your teams put into place, we'd not have had nearly this amount of success

As a Chapter of Excellence, we are proud to be the recipient of the following awards:
